Dominik “Texxassss” Nitsche Scoops ACR Venom for $1,818,044

Dominik “Texxassss” Nitsche emerged triumphant  from the final table of the ACR Venom, bagging a monster $1,818,044 payday after defeating “Push0rdie” heads-up for the coveted online title.

ACR Poker Venom

Nitsche, one of the founders of GTO poker coaching app DTO, was among 5045 entries to the $2650 buy-in online tournament on Americas CardRoom (ACR).

That huge field produced a whopping $12,615,500 prizepool, in excess of the $12.5million guarantee – which itself was an increase on the previous $10million GTD iteration. All-in-all, it was a record setting event.

Although the early talking point was ACR’s search and destroy mission aimed at tournament bots, by the time the final table came round it was Chris Moneymaker who was the talk of the (virtual) town.

The ACR ambassador was looking to replicate his 2003 WSOP Main Event run to the trophy, but first he had to do the necessary prep work… of sorts!

When play got underway, Minnesota’s Ian “RiverRiot72” Matakis was first to depart, his kings running into Nitsche’s flopped set of 6s. It was “IanBeale” who followed Matakis to the rail almost two hours later, pocketing $203,565 for his deep run, and then “DinaTheDog” had to settle for 7th spot and $278,862 after running their short stack into pocket 8s.

The payjumps were now mega-serious, six-figure leaps and it was Moneymaker who bowed out next, his 3-bet pre-flop and jam on the flop unfortunately unable to get there for his fans.

Kou Vang, who has live winnings of more than $2.6million, outlasted Doblou but had to settle for 4th spot after his suited Ace-small ran into Push0rdie’s pocket queens.

That left the podium trio – Uruguay’s Santiago “Anzuelitico” Varela, Germany’s Dominik “Texxassss” Nitsche, and Peru’s as-yet anonymous “Push0rdie” all bagging 7-figure cashes.

The Uruguayan picked what turned out to be the wrong spot to defend his big blind with a shove, and although the turn had him 95.5% to double up, the river had other ideas…

Now heads-up, a one billion (!) chip stack saw the Peruvian-based player with a commanding lead over the German GTO expert, but when that was reversed there was no looking back for Nitsche.

The final hand saw all the chips go in on the turn and that’s all she wrote…
