The bold and somewhat unexpected move by partypoker has come in the week that rivals PokerStars have been ‘parting ways’ with its most talented poker pro streamers.
The poker community is rife with rumours that Jaime Staples (brother of Matt), Kevin Martin and Jeff Gross are all set to join the new creative content TwitchTV team at partypoker after leaving PokerStars over the past week or so.
It was slightly surprising news, then, that Australian midstakes online pro Hristivoje Pavlovic was to follow in Matty Staples footsteps and sign on the dotted line for team Online…
Proud to announce my signing with @PartyPoker Team Online. After grinding Twitch Poker for over three years, this is a special day for me. I can’t wait to showcase what PartyPoker have to offer. The content is just getting started. https://t.co/BwgEcLplN8 pic.twitter.com/bGGc7Trbdc

Hristivoje ‘ALL In Pav’ Pavlovic, however, fits the partypoker Team Online template to a t. He is boasting close to 40,000 followers on his TwitchTV channel.
His long sessions streaming MTT’s keep ‘viewers constantly engaged thanks to his boundless energy and on-screen manner’ according to partypoker’s press release of his signing.
The Australian started out in poker playing online microstakes, running up and busting bankrolls as he learned the ropes though a variety of self-analysis and fellow player Twitch streams.
He cites Randy ‘nananoko’ Lew as the first streamer he watched, but it was Kevin Martin who gave him his first big streaming break by hosting him and adding 1000 followers to his channel.
Speaking of his signing to Team Online, a delighted Pavlovic said: “Signing with partypoker ranks as one of my proudest achievements. I’m stoked to represent a company that has strong ethics at its heart, and I can’t wait to help build the great game of poker.”
Matt Staples will for many require less introduction. He is the brother of Jaime Staples who has forged his own place in the poker streaming world over the past couple of years. Now numbering over 52,000 followers and 3 million views.
Matt Staples commented on his signing: “I am incredibly excited to be entering into a sponsorship with partypoker. Becoming a sponsored pro is something I’ve aspired to for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier about the partnership.
He added: “There’s nothing I like more than streaming tournaments on Twitch and I’m pumped to have the opportunity to showcase and help grow partypoker and their Twitch community.”
Staples’ choice as Team Online’s first-named pro is a testament to how much he has achieved recently. His high-profile prop bets along with brother Jaime Staples and billionaire hedgefund, philanthropist and poker fanatic Bill Perkins have also brought him a level of public attention that will enhance partypoker’s plans.
The partypoker plans, though still very much hidden in the details department, are to bring together ‘a collection of some of the world’s most high-profile online poker content creators and streamers’.
Team Online comes as “part of a wider company strategy earmarked for the following weeks and months with the focus on streaming quality, engaging content across partypoker’s main Twitch channel” according to partypoker’s MD Tom Waters.
Last week saw the site announce a sponsorship deal with Bill Perkins’ ‘The Thirst Lounge’. That’s yet another TwitchTV streaming channel, with the focus on their own ten innovative and eclectic poker content creators. With Cat ‘catrific’ Valdes and Kelly ‘The_Illest’ Minkin among them.
