Mike McDonald says allegedly found Fenn’s Treasure never existed – Offers $10,000 to the finder

Mike McDonald says Fenn’s Treasure never existed

Mike McDonald has offered a $10,000 reward to anyone proving that the legendary Fenn’s Treasure full of gold nuggets has actually been discovered – the poker pro among those who believe it never existed.

What is Fenn’s Treasure?

Fenn’s Treasure, a bronze chest filled with gold, jewels and ancient artifacts, was buried by art and antiquities collector Forrest Fenn back in 2010.

This week 89-year old Fenn claimed that it had finally been discovered, after a decade that saw several people lose their lives in the search for the elusive riches.

However, he refused to say who had found it, or where, stating only:

“It was under a canopy of stars in the lush, forested vegetation of the Rocky Mountains and had not moved from the spot where I hid it more than 10 years ago.”

Not good enough for Mike McDonald…

Not good enough for Mike McDonald, who firmly believes it was a hoax from the beginning, and gave a plausible reason for this week’s ‘anonymous’ finding…

Someone else who doesn’t believe Fenn’s Treasure ever existed is Linda Bilyeu. Her husband Randy Bilyeu died during his search for the treasure trove, his body found in 2016 close to the Rio Grande.

After Randy Bilyeu went missing, his wife appealed to Fenn to reveal the treasure’s whereabouts to help find him.

Linda said afterwards in an interview:

“He said he couldn’t do that because he is the only one who knows. And since he is the only one who knows, if I know, then he would have to shoot me and kill me.”

Others have spent years seeking the elusive chest of gold nuggets, rubies, coins, pre-Columbian animal figures, and ancient Chinese faces carved from jade.

Stories of amateur treasure hunters giving up their life-savings to scour the Rocky Mountains and other areas pepper the remarkable tale.

The treasure hunters and thrill-seekers were all following the clues laid out in a 24-line poem that was published in Forrest Fenn’s 2010 autobiography “The Thrill of the Chase.”

This week the crazy tale took yet another twist, a Chicago attorney filed a lawsuit claiming she had been ‘hacked’ and her solutions to the mystery stolen by the man claiming to have found the treasure.

One of McDonald’s poker followers finds the whole thing extremely suspicious…

However, Mike McDonald’s own offer seems to have drawn in the same crowd of ‘treasure seekers’ trying to claim part of his $10,000 reward!

The incredible tale is obviously far from over, but it might well be a case of be careful what you wish for – all that glitters may not be gold.
