Ian O’Hara steals $1,000,000 in shocking poker scandal

Doug Polk has revealed the shocking poker scandal of Ian O’Hara, who scammed other pros out of $1,000,000 by faking tournament receipts and results in his latest video.

O’Hara, who has over $4million in tournament cashes, hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons last year when well-respected poker players Jonathan Jaffe and Kane Kalas outed him as a serial scammer.

Jaffe and Kalas were surprised to find out they were both staking O’Hara in 2020, but were then even more shocked to find out that the Florida pro had been lying to them regarding wins and losses.

The combined sting was for $715,000 and after O’Hara admitted his guilt – he “immediately admitted he fucked up,” when confronted, says Kalas – they made a deal. O’Hara was to pay back the money owed and not scam again on pain of being publicly outed.

That isn’t how things panned out, however, with O’Hara discovered to have scammed buy-ins for the 2022 Poker Masters, faking tournament receipts and posting old chip stack pics.

Polk’s new video take on the scam adds updates since O’Hara was publicly shamed, revealing that he owes $hundreds of thousands more, the known victims listed below…

  • Chris ‘Big Huni’ Hunichen: $50,000
  • Jack Schanbacher: $100,000-200,000
  • Tyler Rueger $35,000-100,000

That brings the total to roughly $1million, and others have accused O’Hara of trying to sell fake EPT packages and lying about having repaid money.

One incredible detail Polk reveals is that, even while scamming his stakers, O’Hara had his own ‘horse’, Luke McIntosh, and was even scamming him.

Faraz Jaka this week revealed one of the tricks O’Hara apparently employed to avoid being hit for tax …

Jaka also explained that being scammed is a price you have to pay sometimes: “Everyone who’s active and doing lots of business in poker will get scammed at some point. It’s the nature of this human jungle we call the poker world. If you are getting scammed over and over & not learning anything then you’re probably fishing it up.”

According to Polk, Ian O’Hara has tried to hide all the various details of his scamming and has threatened those he owes that they’ll get nothing if they discuss matters publicly.
