Scott Robert Harmier Accused of Poker Room Stabbing Remains in Custody

Scott Robert Harmier has been formally arraigned in Vancouver following the stabbing of four people at a Washington state poker room last month. The 41-year-old was granted bail on a $1.5 million bond but was not able to meet the requirement and will remain in custody until his trial.

Washington Poker Room Stabber Remains in Prison

Harmier’s trial will begin on February 2 where he faces four counts of felony assault, one for each of the four stabbing victims, and a fifth count a felony eluding following a 100mph car chase leading to his arrest.

No Motive

Court records indicate that no motive has been revealed for the attack on December 12 at The Last Frontier Casino poker room in LA Center.

CCTV from inside the poker room shows Harmier playing at a table before reaching down to pick up a knife and stabbing the player to his right five times in the head and chest.

Many bystanders attempted to intervene and placate Harmier who then tried to stab them indiscriminately.

Scott Robert Harmier later tried to stab a woman who was at his table three times and then chased another victim outside who slipped and fell and was stabbed twice. He then casually walked to his car and made his escape.

Harmier then drove off at speeds between 90-110mph before being forced to stop by multiple police vehicles performing a pursuit immobilization technique. He then lit a cigarette in his car and waited for officers to remove him.

The four victims are now thought to have mostly recovered from their injuries. If found guilty, the Canadian faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
