WPN CEO Phil Nagy’s Brother in Law Dies from Coronavirus – Irish Poker Open 2020 to Be Played Online at partypoker

Winning Poker Network CEO Phil Nagy has lost his brother in law to the coronavirus. The American tweeted the news last night giving a warning to those who underestimate how serious this pandemic is.

Coronavirus

Coronavirus – Game Changer

Half of the world is clearly not taking the current health crisis seriously at all. The current low death count when compared to seasonal flu is luring people into a false sense of security.

“If you think this is like the flu, you’re wrong.”

The tweet tells how Nagy’s brother in law was living with the former’s mother and sister. The pair are now alone in the house living under quarantine conditions.

The coronavirus is causing chaos across the poker world with many events being cancelled or postponed. The prestigious Triton Super High roller Jeju, the most high-profile so far.

It is also now common to read in the poker news that this year’s World Series of Poker is now under threat.

At the very least it will be hit hard with a current travel ban in place for many nations.

Daniel Negreanu is even starting to campaign for a quick legalisation of online poker throughout the USA. He thinks it is one way to keep the population at home in a form of isolation.

For those who want to play hardball and continue playing live poker in crowded areas then you will have to find some place other than Las Vegas.

The gambling Mecca has begun a shutdown that will last at least one month. All 440 casinos along with bars and restaurants are now closed. Delivery and take away food is pretty much all that is left open.

partypoker to the Rescue For Irish Poker Open

partypoker has stepped in to rescue the 2020 Irish Poker Open. The festival was one of the high-profile events to be hit by the coronavirus pandemic and will now take place online.

There were hundreds of disappointed players who were planning to make the trip, but they will now be able to play from the comfort of their own homes.

The event will run from April 6-12 2020 with a slightly altered playing schedule. Many of the formats planned are not currently available on the partypoker client.

In typical partypoker style there will be a huge selection of satellites. Many of these are paying out a ticket to the €1 million guaranteed prize pool Main Event.

JP McCann, one of organisers of the Irish Open, said,

“We would like to thank partypoker for taking the initiative to help ensure Europe’s oldest-running poker festival goes ahead during these very challenging times. We hope to see you for the first time ever on the virtual tables for the 40th anniversary of the Irish Open.”

Coronavirus

Managing director Tom Waters also spoke out about how happy he was to be involved with Europe’s oldest poker festival.

“We are delighted to be associated with Europe’s oldest poker festival. The Irish Open is a truly unique event…”

Don’t forget to keep up with the latest news on how the coronavirus is affecting the poker world, and fingers crossed for Daniel Negreanu’s out of the blue push for legalised online poker in the USA.
