Phil Ivey and NBA Star Allen Iverson Play Double or Nothing

Poker legend Phil Ivey has taken on NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson in a series of 1v1 challenges. Asian poker app Poker King brought the pair together to great effect showcasing  what we hope is a series of prop bet games.

Phil Ivey Still Loves to Gamble

Poker players are famous for their will to gamble on almost anything you can think of. From two flies racing up a wall to Antonio Esfandiari’s ridiculous bet where he had to lunge everywhere, eventually getting disqualified for peeing in a bottle during a high roller tournament.

The video shows the two legends racing pedal tricycles, building a house of cards, playing beer pong, crazy golf, and, of course, some poker.

The Chinese mobile poker app is clearly pushing boundaries to promote their brand during these boom times. We have recently seen the firm organise an Ask Me Anything with Tom durrrr Dwan which the fans loved.

Ivey and Dwan are both familiar faces to the Asian high-stakes scene, spending much time in the gambler’s paradise of Macau. The American pair make perfect sense as a promotional duo.

Could Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan Build a Major Brand?

There are parallels with the rise of

NBA Stars and Poker

Basketball players are well-known for their love of playing cards. Michael Jordan, the greatest of all-time, was famous for rinsing his teammates during their time off.

During the 1992 Olympic Games, the American team played poker every single night. Michael Jordan was arguably the greatest sportsperson on the planet with a bankroll to match, and he wasn’t afraid to use it.

The other players complained incessantly how he would try to buy every pot he was in. Charles Barkley said,

“Me and Scottie don’t have as much money as Michael and Magic but we knew that no matter what the cards were, at the end of the night like three or four times a night Michael was always going to try to buy the pot,”

Paul Pierce and Draymond Green both appeared on Poker After Dark and held their own against the likes of Mike Sexton and Phil Hellmuth.

Chris Paul, Seth Curry, David Lee, and Russel Westbrook are all star names who love to spend some free time battling over the felt.
