It’s gotta be the biggest comeback in poker history, what we saw in the Galfond Challenge!

In the first 10,000 of a total of 25,000 hands Phil Galfond was getting absolutely crushed by VeniVidi1999 losing almost every session and being down €900,240.17!

He was getting crushed so heavily that people were starting to question Phil Galfond’s PLO abilities or even dissed him publically like his future opponent Luke Schwartz:

 Galfond’s Break turned out to be the best decision ever

But Galfond remained calm and decided to take a break to reflect whether it makes sense to continue the challenge as well as to analyze his game. It worked wonders!

When Phil returned from his break, the tide turned completely! Now it was Galfond, who dominated the action, but still nobody thought that this huge minus could be made up at this point…

Again, Phil Galfond proved all naysayers and his haters wrong and continued the biggest comeback in poker history by taking the lead for the first time in the entire challenge on Day 35 of 39 Days total!

The most dramatic poker final ever

However, VeniVidi fought back and retook the lead to take a tiny plus of +€8,171.67, which equalled not even half a buy-in.

The stage for the Grand Finale was set and scheduled to take place on Easter Sunday.

More than 22,000 viewers at Twitch Poker witnessed the probably most tense and exciting poker final of all time!

Almost the entire final VeniVidi1993 was in the lead and had Phil Galfond on the verge of reaching the threshold, every single hand that he lost could have ended the challenge as the deficit would have been to big to be recuperable, but Phil came back again…

With only 100 hands left, Galfond retook the lead and increased it a slightly during the next hands. It was clear that the player, who wins the next big pot will win the entire challenge plus the €200,000 sidebet.

And what a last hand it was, Phil bet pot on the river holding Tens full and VeniVidi made the call with a smaller full house.
