Orpen Kisacikoglu scores €1,000,000 Triton Win

Orpen Kisacikoglu took down the Triton 100k SHR title yesterday, scooping €1,040,000 against the world’s biggest and best high rollers at the partypoker MILLIONS LIVE Europe festival.

The two-day event saw Phil Ivey, Tony G, Sam Trickett, and Igor Kurganov among 32 entries at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, a prizepool of €3,040,000 offering the winner €1,040,000 and six places paid in total.

Ivey made it safely through the first day’s play, but came unstuck not once, but twice, as day two got underway.

Ivey’s first bullet bounced out of the tournament in the most amazing hand you’ll likely see this year. AA v KK v QQ with AQ suited thrown in for good measure, Kristen Bicknell’s ladies hitting the flop hard and holding on.

Ivey’s 2nd bullet didn’t last long either. Cary Katz flopping a set of threes and Ivey’s departure was final, late registration having closed.

Several of last week’s big winners and losers from the Triton Poker SHR stop in London had found their way to the Czech Republic.

Another Day, Another Bubble

Charlie Carrel was unable to recreate his£1,321,000 success from the £50k event in London, but Igor Kurganov somehow managed to mirror his unwanted bubble boy title.

Having busted the £1,050,000 Triton Million charity event last weekend, he repeated the feat in Rozvadov yesterday – again missing all his draw outs, and missing the cash too.

Canada’s Bicknell, the only female in the field, looked to be doing well until she ran into two big hands. OrpenKisacikoglu’s pocket aces ended her title hopes in 6th spot. However, she won €213,000 in cash as compensation.

Cary Katz followed her to the rails in 5th. Wai Kin Yong – who almost landed two straight Main Event titles last weekend – bust out in 4thfor €349,000 when he found himself dominated by England’s Ben Heath.

Heath was another big winner from last week’s London soiree, a 3rd place worth £1,350,000 in the £100k SHR behind Yong – but if he hoped to improve upon that he was to be sorely disappointed.

That left a trophy-engravers worst nightmare, heads-up for the title between OrpenKisacikoglu and Vladimir Troyanovskiyand a €330,000 difference between first and second.

The Turkish player piled on the pressure, his Russian foe surviving one all-in, but there would be no further reprieve for Troyanovskiy – a flop where both hit top pair deciding it in Kisacikoglu’s favor with the better kicker.
