Kevin Hart becomes latest partypoker ambassador
Hollywood star Kevin Hart is the latest brand ambassador to sign up with partypoker. The comedian/actor claims he wants to make poker fun again and boy do we need that right now.
Kevin Hart Making online poker fun again
The more observant reader will remember that Hart made this promise once before. The 40-year-old surprised players at the 2017 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure when he turned up out of the blue to play the $100,000 Super High Roller event.
Weeks later, the Pokerstars management had got their claws into Hart and signed him up. He quickly declared that he was here to make poker fun again but we didn’t really see much of him.
Throughout late 2017 and early 2018 Hart played a handful of Pokerstars sponsored events but he hasn’t been seen since.
Now though, we can be sure that partypoker won’t make the same mistake and Hart is likely to be an active member of the team when the poker world gets back on its feet.

Kevin Hart is Part of the Poker Family
This signing is nothing like what happened with PokerStars. Pokerstars has a deserved reputation as a faceless corporate entity only concerned about their bottom line. There is zero love for the game of poker with its 200 year history.
With partypoker, you can be sure this isn’t the case. Rob Yong, partypoker shareholder and figurehead, has been tweeting about how this deal came together.
“I asked my man Kevin Hart to help me promote amateur poker. He’s the highest stakes amateur player in the world and I want him to help me promote amateur poker, promote poker to the masses.”
Happy my good friend @KevinHart4real is now official @partypoker partner. Was talking about partypoker ethos at cash game with him, @Andrew_Robl @BrokeLivingJRB & Kevin promised to help us promote poker to new/amateur players, so made him do this video to commit his ass!💪KTF Rob pic.twitter.com/BHjckqbhRS

It turns out that Yong and Hart are good friends with a bit of history behind them. A conversation involving the pair, along with famous high-stakes crushers Andrew Robl and Jean-Robert Bellande, led Hart being convinced to promote poker to new players.
Highest Stakes Amateur in the World
Worth an estimated $200 million, Kevin Hart is obviously going to struggle to find much action where he finds the stakes meaningful.
Yong seems to think that this isn’t much of an issue for him stating that Hart plays even more poker than he does.
While this is certainly up for debate, we can all agree that this is the signing of the century if they can utilise Hart’s outreach to his fans.
He is followed by tens of millions on his social media accounts and now looks to be super excited to deep in the poker community once more.
“Expect it to get real, and expect us to get rid of all of the people that make it so fucking technical, man,”
There will be a few laughs at making poker less technical. It’s true that partypoker has done away with the use of head up displays, but, make no mistake, poker is still ruled by the technicians. The “feel” players have long been left behind.
We can only hope at this point that partypoker continues to make progress in their fight against Pokerstars. They have made great strides over the last couple of years and continue to be the site that tries to give the customers what they want.
The coronavirus lockdown, while incredibly stressful and depressing, has given online poker a much needed shot in the arm. Traffic figures are up and the games are looking good.
Can partypoker keep this momentum going for the rest of the year?
