Wimbledon champion Boris Becker is joining the GGPoker team
Former back-to-back Wimbledon tennis champion Boris Becker landed another big double this week. He is signing up as a brand ambassador for both GGPoker and King’s Casino.

GG Head of Poker Jean-Christophe Antoine, said: “The addition of both a sporting great like Boris and a respected poker brand like King’s to the GGPoker roster means we continue to go from strength to strength.
He added: “Everyone is well aware of what a fierce competitor Boris is on the court, and I expect to see the same spirit when he hits the tables.”
It will be 35 years this summer since a 17-year old Becker stepped on to the centre court at Wimbledon to lift the first of three men’s singles titles.
He would go on to add another three Grand Slam titles in the course of his 15-year tennis career, missing out only on the French Open, and pocketing over $25million in prizemoney.
Since retiring, poker has been a regular game in Becker’s life. He represented PokerStars from 2007 to 2013 and earned $111,416 in live tournament cashes. His top score was a 40th place worth $40,855 at the Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, 11 years ago this week.
Becker himself stated of this week’s announcement: “I am thrilled to work with GGPoker and King’s and am looking forward to competing with players around the world on the very best poker platform.

Becker has had a long association with King’s Casino, the Czech cardroom in Rozvadov owned by highstakes amateur Leon Tsoukernik.
In 2017, not long after signing up as a partypoker ambassador, the German tennis legend appeared in a televised cash game during the red diamond site-sponsored German Championships at Kings, with Tsoukernik, Bertrand ‘ElkY’Grospelier and Rob Yong at the table.
King’s were also quick to welcome Becker into the fold, the Rozvadov venue that is due to host the WSOP Europe again this year a mere stone’s throw from the former tennis star’s homeland.

To some, Becker’s troubles over the years since his tennis career ended – paternity lawsuit, divorce, and bankruptcy – might make him a strange fit for ambassadorial roles.
The poker world, however, has seen many much worse ‘role models’ than this in its long history. Becker’s love of the game and enduring appeal outweigh his personal woes.

…though the Frenchman is currently in quarantine in Prague having tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus. However, that didn’t stop him from welcoming his tennis legend friend to the GGPoker stable.
