Fake Jamie Staples Scams Big Time on Skype

Jaime Staples has given a warning that he is being impersonated in Skype poker strategy groups. The issue came to light after a screenshot was passed around on Twitter showing the scammer boasting of his crimes.

Staples is one of online poker’s most high-profile players these days and is perfect to impersonate in order to gain trust.

Trading Funds

Poker players are always trading funds across many different sites. This warning from Staples highlights just how careful we need to be. The community is famous for handing out insane sums to people we hardly know, and now it looks like people are still trying to take advantage.

The scammer in question talks about how they are in debt to their backer for $60,000. Obviously the scam has been more successful than expected because they claim to have made more than $400,000 and are still going.

The worrying part about this is the claim that many different players in poker Skype groups have been happy to help for a cut.

Poker players don’t always have the best reputation for honesty when it comes to paying back loans, but it’s shocking to see so many with loose morals at the sight of free money.

“Serious such easy money man we get stupid staker group all the time who rich and scum to players so they don’t get hurt because have so much money,”

Don’t Let it Slide

Whenever this kind of thing happens, it is important not to assume that nothing can be done. The Staples impersonator is clearly using bitcoin as most people think it is untraceable. This has now been proven to be untrue in many recent legal cases.

That said, the most reliable advice has to be avoiding online trades to third parties altogether. Even though there are a selection of fees for the different transfer methods, it might work out cheaper in the long run.

The partypoker $1 MILLION GTD

This week it is unlikely that Jaime Staples’ mind will be anywhere else other than the return of the $1 million GTD partypoker MILLION which you can read about here.
