The US presidential election is scheduled to take place today and it seems like Doyle Brunson is expecting a surprise.

Doyle Brunson replied to a Matt Glantz tweet which mentioned Trump’s odds of being re-elected this Tuesday. Even though Donald Trump is the current US president, the odds for him to remain president, dropped significantly this year.
Some of the Twitter users confirmed that they actually know some people who are voting for Trump but are afraid of losing friends:
That’s very true, I know a few people for a fact that are voting for Trump but everyone in their circle assume they are voting for Biden. They don’t want to lose friends, but have told me privately. What’s so is so ironic is they would still be my friend if he did vote for Biden

While Trump was the favorite to win in January, the COVID-19 pandemic and several other events heavily influenced his chances. Nowadays, he is the underdog according to multiple bookmakers, US poker sites, and betting exchanges such as Betfair.
According to the most recent surveys, Joe Biden is more likely to move into the White House. However, Hillary Clinton was also a huge favorite to win in 2016 but did not succeed.

That’s in fact exactly what Brunson is referring to. He assumes that Trump voters are currently simply afraid of speaking up.
Brunson is really certain that Trump is going to win again and even suggested Matt Glantz a $10k bet on the outcome of the upcoming US election.

While some Twitter users suggested that it would be a way closer race than it seems, a majority of the replies were approving Brunson’s opinion.
It’s going to be closer than you might think. It will almost certainly be blue in 2-3 more election cycles. Just look at the numbers. Change is gradual, and texas happens to be a state that is shifting. It will be interesting to watch in the coming years!
