Daniel Negreanu Rips Into Garrett Adelstein over HCL Cheating Allegations

Daniel Negreanu has ripped into Garrett Adelstein on Twitter, claiming he handled the Hustler Casino Live cheating allegations levelled against Robbi Jade Lew terribly.

The biggest story of the year is still the main topic of conversation on poker Twitter, with Alex Jacob defending Lew to anyone who will listen. To that end, he shared a video of Kevin Hart in a similar situation to Lew’s infamous HCL hand against Adelstein.

“Kevin Hart misreads his hand, makes an impossible call, feels bad for winning the pot and gives some of the money back. Did he cheat?,” tweeted Jacob, sparking another round of discussion in the debate.

ACR pro Ryan DePaulo, who hit the headlines himself with his 2020 WSOP bracelet win played from a store parking lot, isn’t a fan of Lew’s reaction to getting “lucky” against Adelstein.

Having basically called Lew a “horrible person”, he reeled that back slightly, though insisted: “…it’s 1% point off your moral grade if you have too much pride to admit you mis read a hand- especially when it would clear up the obvious tension and confusion at the table- and then double down & act like you rekt the person.”

The hand that caused all the trouble has been dissected from every possible angle, Lew even taking a lie detector test in a bid to clear her name.

With the poker community taking sides in the dispute between HCL crusher Adelstein and poker newbie Lew, Daniel Negreanu has been clearly on team Lew.

“People often react illogically under pressure,” he said of her reaction to winning the hand. “It’s science. It isn’t at all a mark against someone’s character IMO Countless people admit to crimes they didn’t commit under duress.”

Negreanu added: “If you make millions in a game and you think you may have been cheated, you tap the table and say nice hand. What he did is fucking terrible.”

Meanwhile, the HCL investigation (which revealed that an employee had stolen $15k in chips from lew’s stack) appears to still be ongoing.

Adelstein has gone every quiet, perhaps for fear of legal repercussions, while Lew has been living it up at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio, last women standing and cashing in 49th place for more than $22k.
