Daniel Negreanu Defeats Doug Polk in High Stakes Duel 4

Daniel Negreanu has taken his revenge on Doug Polk, squarely defeating him in High Stakes Duel 4 for $200,000.

The First round of High Stakes Duel 4 took place between Daniel Negreanu and Eric Persson back in May, but the latter wanted nothing to do with the rematch so in stepped Doug Polk.

The match was the first meeting between the pair since their much-publicised cash game battle that took place late 2020 into 2021, ultimately won by Polk by a wide margin.

This latest battle only took around three hours to complete—a fight that was characterised by small and medium sized pots, typically Negreanu’s old school “small ball” style from the past.

Negreanu hasn’t indicated if he will now cash out his $150,000 profit or will offer Doug Polk the hance for a rematch where both players must pony up $400,000.

The final hand of the match took place at blinds of only 600/1,200. Polk had 9s7s and raised to 2,500 on the button. Negreanu called with AdTh.

The flop came down 6c              Kc 8d. Negreanu check-called a bet of 1,700.

The turn was the Ah and Negreanu check-called 8,700.

Polk then fired his whole stack into a blank Qc river which was promptly called by Negreanu, sealing a victory that will probably take some of the sting out of the heavy loss three years ago.
