Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger launches new low rake poker room!

Top pro, Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger has recently launched his very own online poker room. Low rake and great rewards are said to be their focal point.

Although the company will have to wait for an official licence, Lucky Chewy Poker is already offering  play money games.

LuckyChewy said that their vision is to create a poker site “by the players for the players”.

“We have been sharing our platform with the international gaming community and intend to create as large a player pool as international laws allow for,” said Lichtenberger.

Is there potential for a Joined Venture?

The news about LuckyChewyPoker came just a few months after another poker professional, Phil Galfond announced he was working on a poker room himself.

Lichtenberger and Galfond seem to have similar visions as Galfond also said he would like to build a “fair, honest, transparent poker site.”

Phil Galfond Run it Once

After Galfond mentioned his plans, there have been no further information. By comparison, Lichtenbergers site took a more direct way as it was available for testing right after the announcement.

When someone on Twitter asked Lichtenberger whether there is a chance of a collaboration with Galfond, he responded with the following: “he is an awesome member of the community and we are certainly open minded to collaborating with him.”

The poker client is stable but quite basic

As of now, the site seems to be functioning fine although its client, reminds of the first-generation online poker clients.

Sit and Gos, tournaments and cash games are all available at the moment but only in Hold’em and Omaha variants. You can choose between Full Ring, Six-Max and HU tables. As of now, the sample settings only offer three table themes.

Signs of change

New sites seem to be the communities response to the recent change in focus by the worlds biggest poker sites.

Amaya’s CEO recently stated that the key part of improving the poker ecosystem is “restricting and reducing incentives for high volume, robotic play by a small percentage of net withdrawing players.” But, a big part of the poker community is not happy with their business moves.

In his manifesto Galfond stated that his site will take a more pro friendly path. He promised to “value the professional for embodying the dream that brings so many people to poker.”

If we combine that with Lichtenbergers “low rake and high rewards” strategy we can almost feel the “new wind” blowing in the world of online poker.
