John is well known across multiple sites under various screen names and has over $600k in MTT Cashes. The Liverpool Lad was more than happy when the VIP-Grinders Team dropped him a Skype and asked him to be our first featured player.

VIP-Grinders: Hi John how’s it going?

John: Very good thanks.

VIP: When did you first get into Poker and what influenced you?

John: I must of been around 16-17, playing with mates, I wanted to get the better of a lad called James Formby! he was one of my best mates at the time, he thought he was a decent player 🙂

VIP: Were you employed before you started playing Full Time?

John: Yeah,I was a chef, I’ve worked in a call centre, I’ve pretty much done every line of work you can think of, until Poker took over.

VIP: So when did you realise it was more profitable to play poker?

John: I Pretty much always knew it was going to be more profitable playing poker than working, it was a case of not having a roll due to horrible money management and having to get a backer and give soo much away!

VIP: What were the 1st games you started to play online?

John: I started grinding £1/£2 SnGs.

VIP: When did you take the plunge and become a Fulltime Grinder?

John: I’ve been FT around 18 months now, it beats any job, and pays well!

VIP: Do you ever dip your toe in the Cash water’s?

John: I occasionally play cash but as you know I’m full time on MTTs.

VIP: How many Tournaments are you playing at anyone time?

John: In early 2016 I was 12-14 tabling pretty much everything, now I don’t like to have any more than 8 running at any time, a combination of games getting tougher and moving up in stakes has brought me to the conclusion that I loose a ton of edge when I have more than 8 running.

VIP: How many days a week are you grinding?

John: I’m playing 5 days a week late afternoon to the early hours.

VIP: What’s your biggest score this year then John?

John: 10k is the biggest score this year, a few close to that aswell, it was a rocky start but all going good again 🙂

VIP: I know you play a lot John! What rooms you playing weekly?

John: LOL just a couple! iPoker,Party, 888, Stars, Skypoker,Microgaming skin to name a few.

VIP: LOL Nice! Do you have any tips for part time players who are thinking of going Fulltime?

John: YEAH DONT LOL – I’d probably have to say bankroll management I know you here this all the time but it stopped me going full time for a while, I had a backer and it took me a while due to poor management to go,it alone – it’s all good now though.

VIP: And have you set any goals for 2017?

John: Yeah, make more money haha and Vegas, that’s on the cards this summer for sure.

VIP: Do you prefer playing live or online?

John: I’d have to say online.

VIP: Is there anyone you look up to and why?

John: There’s a lot of pros, probably too many to mention, I’d probably say I look up to anyone who is putting in the hours and crushing!

VIP: Good Answer! Thanks for taking time! Good luck at the tables and long may the heater continue, speak soon.

John: My pleasure, any time.
