How to Use These Calculators
Plug in real hands from your sessions, not hypothetical ones. The closer the input matches a spot you actually faced, the more useful the output. When using the Equity Calculator, assign opponent ranges based on their actions (position, bet sizing, timing), not random hands.
After running a hand, compare what the calculator says to the decision you made at the table. If your gut was off by more than 5% equity or you missed that a call was +EV, mark that spot. Those are your leaks, and they are where your next win rate jump comes from.
For the full framework on how many buy-ins you need per format, see our bankroll management guide.
Before session
Run matchups with Equity, Pot Odds, and ICM
After session
Verify hands with Semi-Bluff EV, MDF, Implied Odds, and SPR
Ongoing
Track results with Variance, Bankroll, and Rakeback calculators
These are study tools, not real-time assistants. Use them before and after sessions to build range intuition and verify your decisions.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are poker calculators accurate?
Calculators that use full combinatorial analysis return 100% mathematically correct results. Tools that use Monte Carlo simulation (running thousands of randomized runouts) land within 0.1% to 0.3% of the true value. All 11 VIP-Grinders calculators use one or both of these methods.
Can you use poker calculators while playing online?
Most regulated rooms, including PokerStars, GGPoker, Winamax, and partypoker, ban any software that provides real-time advice during play. This includes odds calculators, solvers, and automated decision tools. Some rooms like Americas Cardroom and CoinPoker still allow HUDs and tracking software, so always check the terms of service for your room.
At live tables, electronic devices are prohibited during active hands at every major casino and tournament series: the 2024 WSOP solver controversy reinforced that even off-table tool access is a grey area. The approach pros like Doug Polk and Daniel Negreanu have talked about publicly is the same: calculators during study, memory and intuition at the table.
Are these calculators really free?
Yes. All 11 tools run in your browser with no download, no account, and no payment required. There are no trial limits or locked features.
What is the difference between an odds calculator and an equity calculator?
An odds calculator computes the probability of one specific hand beating another specific hand. An equity calculator goes further by computing your win percentage against an entire range of possible opponent hands. Equity calculators are more useful for real study because you rarely know your opponent’s exact cards. You assign them a range based on their actions and calculate your equity against that range.
