WPT Global have stepped in to rescue the hugely popular Chip Race Podcast from potential oblivion, sponsoring the Irish-based poker chat show for the next year.
The two Irishmen at the heart of The Chip Race, David Lappin and Dara O’Kearney, have found a new home after their almost nine-year stint with Unibet came to an end last month.
Despite fears that the long-running show would be unable to continue, the new deal allowed a seamless transition — Unibet one day and WPT Global quite literally the next.
Their introduction to their new colleagues was a typically humorous affair…

Lappin explained the decision to join forces with WPT Global to VegasSlotsOnline (for whom he also writes):
“WPT Global was an easy choice. What really impressed us was how cognizant their team was of what “The Chip Race” is and what Dara and I could offer.”
The podcast — which has won numerous awards over the years — mixes in-depth news and views with guest appearances. A spin-off known as the Lock-In is a less formal affair, featuring “raw, unfiltered takes”, but has proved equally popular.

Of the WPT Global sponsorship, which will also see the Irish duo as site ambassadors, Lappin stated: “It’s also a company with big ambitions and that’s exciting as an ambassador because you get to sell that vision to poker players, knowing that they will be valued if they play on the site or attend live events.”
As to what fans can expect going forward, Lappin revealed to Pokerfuse: “We’ve booked some huge guests! I’m not going to reveal my hand quite yet but right out of the gate we have a Lock-In with Triton WPT Global Slam winner Xuan Liu.”

Lappin concluded: “We have a big international audience and we want to bring them on this journey with us. We want them to sign up to the site, battle us at the tables and hang out with us at WPT live stops.”
