Ding Biao has won Event #15: $50k Pot Limit Omaha at Triton Jeju for $1,107,000 after defeating Phil Ivey heads-up.
The Chinese grinder has been putting in some stellar performances over the last couple of weeks, and he has capped off his series by denying the G.O.A.T his sixth Triton title.
Ding has racked up seven cashes, a pair of final tables, and came ever so close to closing out a win in the $150,000 Super High Roller.
Now, he joins the ranks of two-time Triton winners and is almost at the $10 million mark for career winnings.
Ding Biao Crushes Star-Studded Field
The 32-year-old budding star isn’t one of the more well-known names in poker but he’s getting there fast.
In an interview after his win he said he’s just getting better and better the more that he plays.
The heads-up battle with Phil Ivey looked relatively one-sided.
Now consider the kind of talent ding had to fight through to move up from his mid-pack ranking when play on the final day started.
Patrik Antonius, Stephen Chidwick, Jason Koon, and PLO crusher Nacho Barbero.
Ding was very polite in paying respect to Ivey after he sealed the victory.
“Phil Ivey is a very good player. There’s always a lot of luck. I got the cards this time.”
He also acknowledged that it is a special moment in a player’s career to defeat the one and only Phil Ivey heads-up for a major event.
