Thai high-stakes tournament star Punnat Punsri has clinched his fourth Triton Super High Roller Series title in Event #13 $25K PLO at the stop in Montenegro.

Fourth Triton Title for Punnat Punsri in Montenegro
Punsri now has $24,509,605 in live tournament winnings, with $20,832,455 of that coming from Triton events. He is now also in the top 50 on the all-time money list.

With the 2025 WSOP kicking off today, few would bet against Punsri being one of the stars of the summer.

He is also one of the more humble players on the circuit and appeared a little stunned when he spoke after what is a popular win.

“I haven’t played anywhere near this standard. I obviously ran not the best during the no limit Triton series. And yesterday I was trying to find inspiration to be more mentally prepared for Vegas. And I thought this could be a good opportunity for me to play with some of the best players.

“At the FT there were just some absolute world class players. I’m already super happy to be at the same table as them, not in terms of potentially winning, but seeing what they do in certain spots, trying to understand hand by hand why certain board textures function in a certain way.”

Action Recap

There were four PLO events planned for the Triton Montenegro series with many of the usual suspects making the trip just for these tournaments.

We had 84 entries and $2.1 million in the prize pool to be paid out to the top 14 finishers.

Fan favourite Vladimir Korzinin, who won his first Triton event last year, broke the bubble for a $45,000 pay out, inching him close to the $8 million line of Triton winnings.

At the end of Day 1 only six players remained in contention. Punsri led the way with 85 blinds but Martin Dam and Alex Foxen were close behind with 66 and 59 blinds respectively.

It was pointed out that Punsri had always whiffed the PLO events but here he was alongside some real PLO talent as well as all-rounders at the elite level Ike Haxton and Alex Foxen.

Sean Rafael and Haxton were the first to bust out on Day 2. The two Americans found no love in the early going. Haxton did pick up a double-up against Punsri but was out four hands later with a $161,000 prize.

Dutchman Dirk Gerritse is better known by his online moniker “Venividi1993”, the man who once blew a massive lead in the opening match of the Galfond Challenge. Here he could only manage fourth place in what was his first Triton final table.

Foxen was now the short stack and clashed with Punsri with his last 12 blinds holding A♠ Q♦ 10♣ 5♥ against the Thai’s 9♥ 7♠ 5♠ 3♥.

Two pair on the flop 9♠ 7♥ 8♥ turned into a flush on the K♣ K♥ run out and it was time for heads-up.

With 98 blinds to 14, Punsri quickly rolled over Martin Dam. It was never going to end any other way.

The final hand saw Dam open A♥ K♣ Q♣ 6♥ and Punsri came over the top with A♦ Q♥ 8♦ 7♦. Dam called it off and the board ran out J♣ 9♣ 6♠4♥ to leave Dam ahead, but the 8♠ river flipped the script and Punsri was champion and had his first PLO title.

After collecting his trophy he said:

“I felt as the tournament went on I understood it more and more. I obviously still have a lot to learn and hopefully this is the start of my interest in your favourite game.

“I obviously ran super, super good to win. I obviously enjoy the format a lot more, especially after playing a lot of the hold’em events. This is a good change of pace. But I obviously need to understand a lot more in terms of how things work and different ranges and stuff.”
