Brazil’s Padro Padilha smashed his lifetime best score at EPT Monte Carlo this weekend, picking up the €25k High Roller for a stunning €1,146,000 cash.

Padilha was one of an exceptionally healthy 226 entries, producing a €5,426,260 prizepool from which the final table of 8 players would all pick up six-figure payouts.
Nacho Barbero, much in the news recently, held the chip lead as 12 players came back for the final day’s play, but it was Padilha who was making moves as Santhosh Suvarna, Roberto Gomez, Joao Simao and Arsenii Karmatckii all hit the rail.
The final table lost short-stack Saar Wilf, and then Barbero whose A♦ 10♣ couldn’t catch Frankland’s 8♠ 8♦ in a race.
Belarus already has a winner this week in Monte Carlo, Mikita Bodyakovsky picking up the €50k SHR for $893,272. This time it was Aliaksei Boika’s turn to run deep, looking to add an SHR title to his 2016 EPT Malta ME trophy.
It wasn’t to be though when he called off Padilha’s pre-flop all-in…

There was Brazil-on-Brazil violence when Alisson “heyalisson” Piekazewicz jammed on Pedro “PadiLhA SP” Padilha. Piekazewicz’s 4♣ 4♥ was outgunned by Padilha’s J♦ J♠ and that was that.
Padilha then accounted for Frankland, who added a tidy €393,600 to the €409,000 he had picked up in the €2K Open High Roller last week, and then saw off Patrik Jaros in 3rd spot after the Czech player jammed pre…

Heads-up saw Padilha start with a close to 5:1 chip lead over Thomas Santerne, and although the Frenchman fought bravely, he couldn’t quite close the gap. The end came when Padilha found a river call with middle pair to deny Santerne his missed gutshot bluff.
“I’m sorry, my English is so bad, bro!” Padilha exclaimed afterwards, adding: “This tournament has been amazing, and just look at that trophy, it’s beautiful.”
