There were 87 eager participants for the first $15k buy-in of the week, producing a prizepool of $1,305,000 with 13 spots paid. There would be no payday for the likes of Erik Seidel, Kristen Foxen, or Patrick Leonard, all falling on day 1.

Likewise, event #1 winner Michael Moncek, event #2 winner Joey Weissman, event #3 victor Adam Hendrix, and event #5 winner Sergio Aido all fell short.

Weissman Falls on the  Bubble

In fact, it was Weissman, who had a win and a close second to his name already who bubbled this time round, Brandon Wittmeyer wielding the executioner’s cards…

Weissman: A♠ 10♠

Wittmeyer: A♦ K♥

Flop: K♣ Q♠ 7♥

Turn: 6♦

River: Q♣

By the time day 1 ended, Alex Foxen had also fallen (12th for $32,625), as had Ren “Tony” Lin (11th for $39,150) and Wittmeyer (8th for $52,20).

Final Table Action

The final 6 convened last night to debate the destination of the trophy and a huge chunk of cash, with Christian Roberts holding the chip lead and Matthew McEwan bringing up the rear.

That all changed rather quickly as the action started red-hot with three quick double-ups and a bustout. Popular commentator Nick Schulman was involved on both sides of that coin, departing in 6th when his big slick couldn’t outrun Michael Berk’s pocket fours.

Berk then took out a short-stacked McEwan, followed by Roberts’ departure…

Lehr: A♣ 7♣

Roberts: A♠ 8♦

Flop: K♦ 10♣ 8♣

The rest of Roberts’ rather sparse chip stack went in on the flop but Lehr’s flush draw got there on the river…

Turn: 6♠

River: 6♣

Down to three and Michael Berk found himself coolered into third spot…

That meant Lehr had laddered up a spot but the 4:1 chip deficit proved too much to overcome. The final hand played out below:

Lehr: A♠ K♣

Blair: Q♥ 3♥

Flop: 5♦ 5♥ 3♠

Blair check-raised all-in and got a call from Lehr and his overcards…

Turn: Q♠

River: 7♠

…but the runout brick meant Blair had bagged his second title of the week.
