Event #79: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller was the big one for the highstakes MTT four-card fans. A field of 121 entries meant a $11,676,500 prizepool and three 7-figure payouts up top.

Day 1 saw Hall of Famers Erik Seidel and Brian Rast fall while day 2 saw one of the players of the 2025 so far fall on the bubble…

Benny Glaser: K♥ 10♠ 4♦ 2♠
Tomas Ribeiro: A♥ A♦ K♦ 9♥

Short-stacked and forced all-in on the big blind, Ribeiro’s small blind raise saw them heads-up to the flop…

Flop: 10♣ J♦ 7♥

Turn: 10♦

Trips on the turn gave Glaser the lead but the river had other ideas…

River: 8♦

That left the remaining 19 players with $200,000 locked up, and casualties en route to the final table included:

  • Daniel Negreanu (15th for $209,457)
  • Nik “Airball” Arcot (14th for $209,457)
  • Nick Schulman (12th for $209,457)

That still left a who’s who of poker’s finest who did get there, with Phil Ivey among the contenders looking for an 11th WSOP gold.

Sean Rafael had already picked up $460k for his 4th-place finish in the $10k PLO Championship and he almost matched that with a 7th spot/$420k run last night.

Phil Ivey was now the short stack but he managed to ladder up when Alex Foxen couldn’t get away from turned two pair only to find he’d been rivered by Ike Haxton’s better two pair.

Ivey couldn’t quite turn things around fully and his 12th brace let would have to wait, Haxton again the executioner…

Phil Ivey: K♥ 9♠ 7♣ 5♥

Isaac Haxton: A♠ A♦ Q♥ 3♦

Flop: A♣ 7♥ 10♦

Turn: 4♣

River: 9♥

Haxton also took out Lautaro Guerra in 4th spot on the river and then Deeb, who had been the short stack for a while, first crippled then KO’d Arthur Morris in 3rd. Morris’ $1,368,994 podium finish was his biggest-ever cash and took him through the $5million career barrier.

Heads-up saw Deeb chasing his seventh WSOP gold and Haxton (surprisingly perhaps) only his second.

Deeb quickly overturned a 3:4 chip deficit and, just as it looked like Haxton was pulling back, the end came…

Isaac Haxton: K♦ K♠ J♦ 7♦

Shaun Deeb: Q♥ Q♠ 10♣ 6♠

Deeb raised Haxton’s limp pre…

Flop: J♥ 4♠ 2♠

…and then check-raised Haxton on the flop, which led to a tank-jam. Deeb called…

Turn: 10♦

River: Jâ™

The rivered flush gave Deeb the title and almost $3million and he was soon to be found sharing his celebratory thoughts…
