Six years ago, Yosef watched his son Jorden take down the WSOP 2019 $1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Double Stack event and now he has matched his bracelet tally and overtaken his earnings total.
In a winner’s interview, Yousef said:
“I gotta tell you, this is incredible. I watched my son win a bracelet in 2019, and it was incredible then. It feels even better now, but now he’s gotta come back and win a second one, which is okay.”
The elder Fox overcame a field of 616 entrants who were fighting for a slice of the $5,728,800 prize pool.
Not only did he bank $729,333 for being the last man standing, but also a total of $335,000 in bounties after knocking out PokerStars Team Pro Alejandro Peinado to seal the victory and Patrick Kennedy in fifth place. This included the top bounty of $250,000.
Being one of the $10K events, the field naturally contained several big names from the world of poker, including Phil Ivey, Alex Foxen, and Erik Seidel.
This makes the achievement all the more impressive in what is a great story for poker. Jordan was on the rail to support his father showing just how the pair have driven each other on in live poker events over the years.
First Yosef made the top 100 in the 2015 Main Event then Jorden made it 27th place in 2018. A year later Jorden had his first bracelet and now Yousef has matched him on that score.
Yousef claimed that if a second son, Levi, can win a WSOP bracelet, then the family will be the next Brunsons!

Action Recap
Right after Fox pulled the $250,000 bounty, four-handed play came to a head when Richard Green found himself looking down at A♠ 9♥ when James Mendoza open-jammed in the small blind. For only 20 big blinds Green was happy to call this off.
Mendoza, from the Philippines, flipped over 7♥ 5♦ and the dealer rolled out the board. Unfortunately for Green it came down 7♣ 7♠ 8♥ Q♠ A♦ and he was out in fourth place for $237,123.
Now Fox started to ramp up his aggression, utilising his chip lead to perfection to bully Mendoza and Alejandro Peinado. Peinado also found a timely double-up against Medoza which proved to be crucial later on.
Soon after, Mendoza was the shortest stack and jammed over Peinado’s open with a 15 big blind shove to leave him racing K♣ J♦ against the Spaniard’s 7♠ 7♣.
The board ran out 9♣ 9♠ 8♣ 10♠ 4♠ and the Filipino headed to the rail.
Fox began heads-up with a slight chip lead but increased that to a 2-1 lead after pushing Peinado off his hand on a K♥ J♥ 9♦ board.
Peinado did win a nice pot to increase his stack by more than one third but quickly lost it all and much more minutes later.
With few chips left, Peinado did manage a single double-up but it was all over a couple of hands later.
Fox raised to 1,300,000 on the button with J♠ J♣ and Peinado came over the top holding A♦ 2♦.
The final board of the tournament was 9♠ 3♥ 2♠ 10♠ Q♠ and Fox was champion and now a bracelet holder. Peinado can still hold his head high and will go home $486,192 better off than when he arrived, even if he didn’t manage to repeat the win of his fellow Spaniard Antonio Galiana earlier in the series.
