Deyra was among 123 entries to the weekly $10k buy-in SHR, a decent turnout given the ongoing WSOP in Vegas. The prizepool was an easy-to-calculate $1.23million with four 6-figure paydays up top.
By the time Tuesday night’s final table arrived, we had a mix of highstakes regs, some well-known and others still anonymous. Leading the way in chips was Deyra, with Juan Pardo Dominguez bringing up the rear. It took all of one hand for him to bust, a cooler against a fellow short stack ending his dreams of running it up…
Dominguez: Q♦ Q♥
Gazok-900: A♠ A♦
Flop: 4♦ 10♥ 2♠
Turn: 4♥
River: 3♠
Kalinin fell in the clash of the Russians, the river A♦ flushing his hopes of a double-up down the tubes and he was followed to the rail by Dominik Nitsche.
This time last year, Nitsche was about to become headline news in LaptopGate at the WSOP Main Event. Last night, it was a simple race that felled the German-born pro.
Conan got his short stack in good against Zajebal Ji, flying the Slovenian flag, but the runout was as brutal as it gets…
Anonymous UK-based account Gazok-900 was running deep but had to settle for 5th spot and just shy of $100k, again the board favouring the slightly weaker hand…
Gazok-900: 9♦ 9♣
Dimmmmm: A♦ J♦
Flop: K♣ K♥ J♣
Turn: Q♥
River: Q♠
Anonymous Russian Dimmmmm wouldn’t get any further, however, losing almost everything with 6♠ 6♥ against Lefrancois’ A♣ Q♠ leaving Lefrancois, Deyra, and Zajebal Ji (whose name we won’t translate, so you can guess what it might mean – let’s just say, they aren’t a fan of the Chinese president!)
The Slovenian took out Lefrancois in a big ace over ace battle, leaving them heads-up and just a little behind Deyra in chips.
Deyra, if the name sounds familiar but you can’t place it, hit the headlines back in 2021 when he lost his Winamax contract after multi-accounting en route to winning the Winamax Series €2,000 SHR for €83,300 (roughly $101,000).
Heads-up was a quick affair, Deyra’s flopped set of kings more than enough to catch out Ji’s rivered two pair…
Deyra: K♠ K♣
Zajebal Ji: A♥ 4♥
Flop: K♥ A♠ 3♣
Turn: 7♣
River: 7♠
