The Final Table just started and Juanda is massive chip leader with 22,000,000 chips, while Sergey Lebedev is third in chips with 7,500,000.

Poker Hand of the Week Action

Preflop:

Blinds are 25k/50k. Daniel Dvoress limps UTG to 150,000 with 9♣9♥. Sergey Lebedev calls with K♥J♦  as do Jungleman, Yong Wai Kin and John Juanda with 6♥6♠. Pot Size: 275,000

Flop:

5-way to a flop of A♥A♦6♦ giving Juanda a Full House, while the other four whiff. It checks around to John, who makes a small 75,000 bet and Lebedev check-raises to 225,000 with King-high. Juanda calls. Pot Size: 725,000

Turn:

The A♣ is a very interesting card as now every Ace makes Quads and if Sergey Lebedev doesn’t have it, then he is most likely on a flush draw and a flush is higher than a full house in Short Deck.

Sergey checks and John bets 75,000 again. Lebedev check-calls. Pot Size: 875,000

River:

The 6♣ on the river is another very spicy card as it makes Juanda Quads! However, any Ace still beats him.

Sergey Lebedev now leads small for 200,000 sending John Juanda in the tank.

After 50 seconds Juanda folds Quads and Lebedev wins a 1,075,000 pot with just King-high!

Poker Hand of the Week Analysis

This is definitely one of the siickest folds of all time! Let’s take an in-depth look at it.

First of all, it’s important to note that Short Deck is played with a 34-card deck instead of 52 cards. In addition to that, we have a 5-way pot here, so there is actually a decent chance that someone has an Ace.

The flop comes AhAd6d giving John Juanda Quads. The other four players miss. It checks to Juada, who bets small with 75,000 into 275,000 (275 pot).

It folds around to Sergey Lebedev, who decides to represent the Ace with a check-raise to 225,000. Juanda has an easy call with his flopped full house.

On the turn, it gets interesting as a third Ace appears. That means, in case Lebedev has an Ace John can’t win the hand any longer.

The Russian however checks and Juanda makes a tiny “please call me” bet of 10% pot. Sergey check-calls.

The 6c is a sick river card as it makes John Juanda Quads, but an Ace is still beating him.

Lebedev continues to tell his story of the Ace by leading small for 200,000 (23% pot).

Juanda does not only go deep into the tank, but even decides to lay down Quads!

Poker Hand of the Week Conclusion

Very advanced play and bluff by Sergey Lebedev. He decides to represent the Ace on the flop with a check-raise and has the balls to tell the story to the end with a small value bet bluff on the river.

Nevertheless, this is also a bad fold by John Juanda as there is only one Ace left in the deck and therefore only one single combination that beats him.

If Lebedev has the Ace such is life, but you should never fold Quads in this spot.
