GGPoker is currently hosting the WSOP Online 2025 and it’s fair to say things are going well.
On Sunday evening a tweet was posted to say that the platform had exceeded more than half a million players online. Impressive stuff, but then only seventeen minutes later we read that the record had just passed the 600,000 mark.
A few weeks ago GGPoker announced a tried-and-tested formula for the WSOP Online 2025 schedule and it seems to have worked. No doubt helped by the thought of another $18 million being handed out during September.
Momentum Update
We’ve already surpassed 600,000 players online today.
Thank you to our incredible community for making this happen. pic.twitter.com/rB0JQAUSPH

Who Really Owns the Online Poker Traffic Records?
A total of 600,000 players logged into their accounts at one time does sound impressive, but different sites have different ways of showing off how well they’re doing.
You see, the official record for what the Guinness Book of World Records terms “most players at an internet poker room” still belongs to former industry leader PokerStars in an era where it dominated with around 70% market share.
In 2009, 307,016 players were seated across 42,814 tables; not merely logged in but actually in an active game.
GGPoker does keep track of its cash game traffic separately, reaching its record figure of 12,000 back in January 2024. Currently there is a 30-day average of 10,314, which is still impressive.
So no records on the cash tables right now, making it likely that the WSOP Online 2025 is doing a sterling job of pulling players to the site.
Just think, back in 2018 we didn’t really know anything about GGPoker or its plans for domination. But by 2021 it was already the biggest platform.
Another milestone for GGPoker was joining PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker as the only sites that ever averaged more than 10,000 players at the cash tables.
So all in all it’s fair to say that GGPoker has become the new dominant force in the online arena. It ran the biggest ever online event and biggest online series while racking up a record number of hands dealt in both cash games and tournaments during last year.
And don’t forget that GGPoker is now the owner of the World Series of Poker Brand after stumping up an eye-watering $500 million last year. Will it complete a total takeover of the game? We wouldn’t rule it out!
