Telma Casaca
Head of Publishing and Director
Telma Casaca is Head of Publishing at VIP-Grinders and a director of HHK eCommerce Consulting Ltd, the company that owns the site. She sets the standards content has to meet before it publishes, across the English and Spanish editions.
Based in Malta, she has been part of VIP-Grinders since 2018, first as Content Manager for the Brazilian market and later taking on publishing across the language hubs. She now leads both the content and marketing sides of the business.
Research
Telma authored our Women and Gambling Statistics study, which tracked how female participation falls from 78% in bingo to 4% in live poker, drawing on data from the UKGC, SOFTSWISS, the AGA and GamCare. Her work in this area has been cited by Forbes and Digital Journal.
Background
Before returning to VIP-Grinders full time in 2024, Telma spent a year as Senior English Site Manager at Gaming Innovation Group, running two English-language affiliate sites and reporting on traffic and content performance.
She was previously Senior Content Editor at Sportsbook Review, managing editorial workflows and leading a team of writers and editors. Earlier still she worked in casino customer support at Aspire Global, which is a different vantage point entirely: what players actually contact an operator about, and what happens next.
That combination of editorial management, affiliate operations and front-line support is why she is the one setting the bar rather than applying someone else’s.
Away From the Desk
Telma studied Translation at Nova University Lisbon, which is not unconnected to running a site in more than one language.
Her connection to poker started in 2011, when she learned the game from her husband on holiday in Palma de Mallorca, using an old deck and her bracelets as makeshift chips. When she is not working she walks her dog along the Maltese promenade, paints, reads and travels.
