Jeremy Kaufman’s Insane Losing Streak

The latest episode of Poker Night in America aired this Monday evening on CBS Sports. The popular poker TV show is currently in its 6th season.

It featured some heavy hitter poker pros such as 4-time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun Deeb, Phil Laak, Matt Glantz, Frank Kassela and Doug Polk.

Two recreational players were at the table. Avi Freedman, CEO of the AIOps company Kentik; and Jeremy Kaufman, CEO of the real estate investment firm Kaufman Jacobs.

Hopefully, Kaufman does a better job investing money in the real estate market than investing it at the poker table – he had a downswing to a magnitude that is not often seen.

By the time the night ended, Jeremy Kaufman was down $69,000. Given the fact that the stakes were $25/$50, that is an astonishing 1,380 big blind loss!

It is truly rare to capture a trainwrack session like that on camera.

It is reminiscent of what “Aussie” Matt Kirk lived through in April 2018. He was playing a promotional $100/$200/$400 PLO cash game session for partypoker. Kirk ended that game with an around $3.5 million loss.

Calling with Nothing But King High

It is undeniable that Jeremy Kaufman on Poker Night in America ran very bad at times.

For example, he got it all-in on the turn with two pair against Doug Polk’s top pair-top kicker just to get two-outed on the river.

However, he also made some catastrophic decisions in the game.

One time, he bet $3,000 on the river with King high. Shaun Deeb re-raised to $9,900 with a set of 7’s.

When the commentators saw Kaufman reaching for chips they assumed he was going for an ambitious 3-bet bluff. However, they – and likely everyone who was watching the stream – was shocked when it turned out that Kaufman decided to call.

Later in the night, however, Jeremy Kaufman did get a memorable winning moment. He managed to make two top pairs fold in a 3-way pot by re-raising the turn with just pocket 6’s.

Everyone at the table enjoyed when the players decided to turn over their mucked hands.

But that didn’t save Kaufman from the moment the final tally of the night came. $69,000 in red showed up next to his name, after playing a session on $25/$50 stakes…
