GGPoker unveiled their newest ambassador today, and it is none other than famous chess-streamer and poker fanatic Alexandra Botez – long-time GGPoker frontman Daniel Negreanu on hand for a warm welcome…

28-year-old Botez, like Negreanu a Canadian-American with Romanian roots, sprung to prominence in the chess world alongside her sister younger sister, Andrea.
With almost 1.5million YouTube subscribers and, 750k Instagram followers, the elder Botez discovered her passion for poker during lockdown.
Since then, she has accumulated just shy of $60,000 in live tournament earnings, including cashing in last year’s WSOP Main Event.
Her live cash game play has proven even more lucrative, an incredible $450,000 win against the likes of Tom Dwan and Phil Hellmuth, as well as Mr. Beast and Ninja, boosting her poker profile.
“I like tournaments more than cash. I think it’s nice to have a limit… it feels less gambly,” Botez explained to DNegs during their heads-up game and interview.
She added: “It reminds me more of chess because in chess tournaments you’re playing 10 days of 6–8 hours of chess plus the prep… tournaments are the closest thing I’ve found to chess.”
A holder of the WFM title in chess (several rungs below the Grandmaster title, but still roughly top 5% in the world), Botez was voted Chess Streamer of the Year in 2022.

Considering herself as still a beginner in the poker world, the announcement today sees Botez join not only her poker hero Daniel Negreanu on the GGPoker roster, but also Fedor Holz, Jeff Gross and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospelier.
