Murilo Milhomem Wins EPT Barcelona €3,000 Mystery Bounty

Murilo Milhomem has won his maiden EPT title after taking down the €3,000 Mystery Bounty for a €321,658 payday.

The Brazilian topped a field of 1,113 players over the three-day event to seize a victory that is almost certainly his best day in poker.

It certainly paid more than his previous best cash of $38,520 from a tournament in Sao Paulo.

Milhomem, who is currently on his honeymoon in Spain, couldn’t have been happy when he was interviewed after the event, and now he’s even planning to stick around and play some more.

“It’s amazing, indescribable. I’m here on a honeymoon. We were thinking of where to go, then I won a satellite, then we decided to come here.

“Always being prepared, especially for live tournaments. I’ve been studying a lot and talking to live coaches.

“It is supposed to be my last tournament here. We are going to enjoy Barcelona, drink some mojitos and some aperols. Maybe I will play one more though.”

Action Recap

The Mystery Bounty events are the hottest ticket in town right now. A bad day at the office can be sorted out by drawing one of the biggest bounty prizes.

That honour fell to Henrik Juncker and Arni Gunnarsson in the EPT Barcelona €3,000 Mystery Bounty, who both bagged the €100,000 prizes.

The event saw a gruelling schedule with Days 1 & 2 playing all day and then it took a further eight and a half hours on Day 3 to wrap it all up.

Arni Gunnarsson was the first player to be eliminated from the final table, in eight place. He banked a further €38,600 to go with his top bounty prize.

Fintan Hand then knocked out Kelvin Kerber, his pocket kings doing the job against pocket sizes.

France’s Julien Sitbon entered the day on the back of a great end to Day 2, but he never really got any momentum going and Milhomem finished him off in the early rounds.

PokerStars Team Pro Maria Konnikova ended her run in fifth place after starting the Day as one of the chip leaders.

Jamming A♠ 3♥ in the hijack, the American was dismayed to see she was up against Fabrice Maltez who held A♦ J♥.

The board ran out A♣ K♠ 6♥ to leave Konnikova on the brink but when the 3♦ came on the turn everything looked great.

Sadly for Konnikova, the poker gods weren’t done because the J♣ river saw her heading to the rail.

Maltez was riding his luck to extreme lengths after starting the day as one of the shortest stacks. So when his time was up, he must have been delighted with fourth place and a €110,300 prize.

The other PokerStars Team Pro left in the event, Fintan Hand, lost all his chips making a hero call with second pair to Milhomem‘s two pair.

Jacob Stone started the heads-up battle with a significant chip lead but over an hour of play we saw the Brit steadily lose his chips in small to medium pots until Milhomem was crowned as champion.
